Favourite brands….

Favourite brand values

My favourite brand for its values is WHOLE-FOODS.

What are they?

  • We satisfy and delight our customers
  • We promote team member growth and happiness
  • We care about our communities and the environment
  • We practice win-win partnerships with our suppliers

Why do I like them?

  • The first goal is centred around their customer and this is super important as all brands would not survive without a customer so this needs to be the most important part of a brand strategy – I like how they want to “delight” them, this isn’t just about satisfaction, it’s about surprising and delighting people which I think is wonderful
  • Promoting growth and happiness within their teams is brilliant, secondary to customers, businesses would not be who they are without the people so again this is really interesting and smart that Wholefoods have included this in their values
  • As ECO is becoming more widely talked about and at the forefront of peoples minds, it sits very well that Wholefoods have included this in their values – especially as food waste is such a big topic. When you think of Wholefoods, you very much think of natural, locally sourced, packaging free products
  • The value about suppliers is also a very interesting point, and again a very smart idea – a lot of business forget that in order to create a good business they need suppliers to be on their side and feel like it’s a partnership rather than a “take, take, take” approach. Its better for everyone if there are equal benefits to a relationship

Favourite brand logo

My favourite brand logo is CHANEL

Why do I like it?

I like it’s bold simplicity. It’s impactful. I like how it is instantly recognisable even without the word “Chanel” underneath it.

Logo exploration

This week we were asked to explore logo designs and aim to create 100 drawings of different variations! I reached 50…. it was a lot harder than it looks which shows that creativity is not easy. I found that each time I tried to draw a new design, I was trying to make it the best possible design so that really does limit you – you should just focus on getting any designs down on paper….good or bad.

Project Persona

Jen is 38 and she has recently moved to the Lake District from Manchester. She is married to David and they have one child, Chloe. Jen is self employed, and moved to the Lakes for a better work/life balance.

Jen spends her spare time walking, exploring the Lakes and what it has to offer, brunch, wine and cooking. She keeps fit by running and going to yoga.

Jen is Eco conscious but would like to find out more about how we can all do more to support the environment, she likes to shop locally and is passionate about the local community.

What do I think Graphic Design is?

Graphic design is taking an idea and running with it.

Exploring all aspects of that little seed and letting it grow into a plant that branches out into different visual aspects: identity, form, colour, language, design. Telling a story along the way, until it becomes a fully formed tree with its own identity that the consumer/audience believes in and can identify with.
